چکیده
Abstract Carbon nanotubes (CNT) are of great interest to the research community due their outstanding mechanical, transport, and optical properties. These nanoparticles have also shown exceptional lubricating capabilities, which coupled with electrical conductivity show promising results as solid lubricants in contacts. In this study, three different CNT coatings were deposited over copper platelets via electrophoretic deposition subsequently tribo-electrically characterized including contact resistance evolution during fretting wear, wear protection, chemical analysis marks, well influence coating thickness, duration normal load applied fretting, atmospheric humidity. Thicker improved protection while retaining similar behavior uncoated copper, or even improving its resistance. Moreover, compaction porous is crucial for optimal performance at low For longer tests (150,000 500,000 cycles), displaced thus affecting offered. However, stabilize reduce ECR compared samples. Furthermore, thicker can bear higher loads increased lubricant reservoir, carbonaceous tribofilm remaining contacting interface after 5,000 cycles regardless load. Graphical

TiC-based nanocomposite coatings as electrical contacts
This Thesis concerns the advanced surface engineering of novel TiC-based nanocomposite and AgI electrical contact materials. The objective is to make industrially applicable coatings that are electrically conductive and wear-resistant, and have a low coefficient of friction. I have studied electrical contact systems consisting of a Cu substrate with a Ni diffusion barrier and loading support, a...
متن کاملFretting Corrosion in Electric Contacts
Fretting corrosion is a form of accelerated atmospheric oxidation which occurs at the interface of contacting materials undergoing slight, cyclic relative motion. In electric contacts involving non-noble metals, fretting action can cause rapid increases in contact resistance, proceeding to virtual open circuits in a matter of minutes in the worst cases. Experimental results of resistance increa...
متن کاملNumerical Modeling of Fretting Wear
In this paper, a review of some techniques proposed in the literature for modelling fretting wear is presented. Fretting wear occurs when surfaces are degraded and materials are removed due to a small relative oscillatory motion between two contact surfaces. Due to the continuous change in the shape of a structure during its lifetime, the design of engineering components subjected to fretting w...
متن کاملThe Evaluation of Wear in the Fretting of Electrical Contact Surfaces
Consideration is given to methods for the evaluation of surface wear from fretted electrical contact surfaces. The surfaces under consideration are selected for in-vivo applications, they are testing using purpose built fretting apparatus to investigate intermittency. The intermittency is associated with high frequency transients in the contact resistance between the two interfaces. These event...
متن کاملA practical methodology to select fretting palliatives: application to shot peening, hard chromium and WC-Co coatings
Considered as a plague for numerous industrial assemblies, fretting, associated to slight oscillatory displacement, is encountered in all quasi-static contacts subjected to vibration. Depending on sliding conditions, cracking or wear damage can be observed. During the past three decades there has been a huge development in surface treatments. Thousands of new surface treatments and coatings are...
